DIRECTOR of Technical Services with Inverell Shire Council Greg Moran, handed in his resignation to last week.
After reviewing his contract and options, Mr Moran decided not to sign on the dotted line to renew his contract with council.
Instead, he will be taking up some other offers including some consultancy work, as well as taking opportunities to pursue personal activities.
Mr Moran said he would also like to take up opportunities to do more Volunteer Aid Abroad work, and enjoy life. His work at council has resulted in many infrastructure features that have brought Inverell up to standard, and have also improved council’s long-term outlook.
Mr Moran finishes with council at the end of July and will take leave for a month before his resignation officially starts on August 31.
Applications for Mr Moran’s position will close at the end of June.
Mayor Barry Johnston thanked Mr Moran for his management over the years and made the comment that resulted in an uproar of laughter from those present at council’s Tuesday meeting.
“There will be those people who will miss you… and those who won’t.
“I wish you all the best.”
