Joblink Plus currently has one of their Work for the Dole crews erecting the fence around the new synthetic hockey field at the Inverell Sporting Complex.
The materials used in the fence structure have been measured, cut and erected by the participants of the crew.
The field will be used by the Inverell Hockey Association for games and tournaments and is a welcome addition to the sporting landscape of Inverell.
Joblink Plus Work for the Dole complete projects for many community based, not for profit organisations around the local area including sporting clubs, service clubs, preschools and many others.
Some of the sporting projects Joblink Plus Work for the Dole crews have been involved in include the installation of aluminium and tiered seating at the sporting complex, as well as various works at Inverell Rugby Park and Varley Oval, but this is one of the biggest sporting related works they have undertaken.
The crew has been working on the hockey fields on and off since work began on the field, but they have been working consistently on the fencing for three weeks with supervisor Denis Luxford estimating fencing, concreting and landscaping work to be completely finished and ready for opening by April.
Lindsay Groth, Inverell’s Work for the Dole Co-Ordinator is very pleased with the effort the participants have put into their work.
“It is great to see the guys so interested in helping the community and gaining valuable skills at the same time.
“We have 10 participants on this crew at the moment and they work very well together,” Lindsay said.
Work for the Dole is an Australian Government initiative.
