MANY have been talking about the death of “The King of Pop” this week.
Michael Jackson died on Friday morning Australian timelast week from a cardiac arrest.
Jackson will be remembered for both his musical genius and personal scandals.
Across the world, Jackson’s hits have been a permanent fixture in the online iTunes store top 30, but Garry Holder from the Music Ranch said he hadn’t noticed an increase in sales of Jackson’s records this week.
“We haven’t seen an increase here at all actually, but we don’t have many in stock.
“It certainly isn’t like when Slim Dusty died, we had a massive rush for his albums then.
“If people want Michael Jackson’s albums we can get them in for them, but we haven’t had anyone ask yet.”
Local radio host Ashley Tomlinson, who presents the GEM FM breakfast program said she was shocked to hear of the star’s demise, and has been adding extra Michael Jackson songs to her playlists.
“We have been playing more of Michael Jackson’s music certainly.
“I was so shocked when I heard the news, I think this is one of those events where you will remember where you were 20 years from now when you heard the news.”
