More help for victims of fire

05 Feb, 2010 09:41 AM
ANNA Winter and Bob Moore of Caltex Service Station have donated 25 ‘comfort’ bags to the Salvation Army to distribute among the people affected by the Otho Street fire.

The green bags that were donated by IGA contain chips, chocolates, lollies and drinks kindly donated by Caltex.

Caltex site owner Anna Winter said she really wanted to help the people who lost their homes and businesses.

“I could only imagine how the people felt and I know when I’m feeling down chocolate always helps,” Anna said.

“IGA gave us the green bags to fill which was good and then we just distributed all the goodies into each of them.”

The Salvation Army’s Melissa Millard collected the bags from the Otho Street Caltex to pass onto each of the people affected.

“Having a business I can imagine how devastating it would be to lose everything,” Anna said.

“We do a lot of community work in Moree and we are hoping to achieve the same in Inverell, after all that is how a town keeps going, with community support.”
