Police chasing hit run driver

30 Oct, 2009 08:22 AM
A DRIVER failed to stop after crossing to the wrong side of the road and hitting a scooter rider on Wednesday afternoon.

Police are trying to locate the driver in the collision, which happened on Ashford Rd.

The scooter rider suffered minor injuries.

The man was riding his Honda scooter on Ashford Rd, near the Burtenshaws Rd intersection, about 3.45pm on Wednesday afternoon when the collision happened.

As he rounded a sweeping bend he was forced to take evasive action to try to avoid colliding with a dark coloured Commodore travelling towards him on the incorrect side of the road.

The scooter rider was thrown from his cycle and was later taken to Inverell Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the offending vehicle has not yet been identified. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Inverell Police.
