BUCKING bulls and cowboys were a hit at Bundarra Showground on Saturday.
The Bundarra Rodeo Commitee together with Bucking Thunder Down Under hosted an eventful bull riding competition.
More than 700 people attend the event and about 100 bull riders registered.
Bundarra Rodeo Committee president Gavin Tickle said he was pleased with the support.
“It was a very entertaining night and there was lots of action,” he said.
There were 45 cowboys who entered the open bull ride but only eight of them lasting the eight seconds to qualify.
The winner was Uralla’s Chris Lowe, riding Sammy D.
Lowe has two Bucking Thunder Down Under series champion titles and is the current leader.
“There was only a one point difference between him and Jason O’Hearn from Newcastle,” Tickle said.
“In third place was Cameron Byrne from Warwick who was only three points behind Jason (O’Hearn).
Tickle was also one of the open bull riders. He tried his luck on Northern Territory bull of the year Hot Chilli but was knocked out.
“It is part of what happens but I am disappointed I didn’t get to ride,” he said.
The novice bull rider went to Jarrod Borguro, open steer ride winner was Jonathon Rogan and Chris Williamson from Glen Innes and junior steer ride winner was Troy Wilkinson from Upper Horton.
