Inverell pony club riders and their families traveled to Teneterfield Showground recently to compete at the final two ribbon days hosted by the Tenterfield and Emmaville pony clubs which formed part of the Northern Zone of Zone 13 competition.
The Inverell riders continued to show the depth and strength of the Inverell club. Inverell riders dominated the placings in all the events and the high level of sportsmanship by all members was once again a standout. There was a very large contingent of Inverell members who attended the weekend’s competition. Special mention should go to the families who made the trip up for just one day of competition due to other commitments and also to those who traveled up early Saturday morning after attending very late functions on the Friday night before.
The following riders were awarded overall highpoint score awards for their age groups over the series of competition held across Northern Zone: Mackenzie Berkley, Shakira Wilson, Tyler Berkley, Justin Oakenfull, Teagan Hodges, Raylee Adams, Kirsty McCormack, Cassie Adams and Rhys Graham. The following riders were awarded reserve highpoint score awards; Sam McLaughlan, Dannika Lyons, Tyson Hodges, Ethan Campbell, Claudia Neate, Hannah Worsley, Jessica O’Brien, Jeremy Grills and Zara Pateman. Tonia Pateman received an award for the fastest bending race of the weekend.
Another fanatastic achievement was Inverell Pony Club being awarded the Willcocks Family Overall Club Highpoint Score Trophy. Inverell won on a score of 6,982 points with their nearest rivals Glen Innes 3,416 points. A great achievement to win by 3,566 points and something every Inverell Pony Club member was responsible for and should be extremely proud of.
Off the horses the 35 plus riders and their families had a great time camping together sharing pizza, a bbq and a few drinks on Friday night.
On Saturday night more than 50 Inverell club members invaded a local eating establishment for a club dinner. The establishment must be glad they only come to town once a year.
For some families the Pony Club season has finished until next year. For 20 junior riders, six associates and their families the training, hard work and commitment steps up a notch for the task of representing the whole of the Inverell Pony Club as the Jamboree team to compete at the Bundarra showground in January hosted by the Kingstown club.
To all the members and their families a big congratulation’s should be made from all the committee for the outstanding results, achievements and sportsmanship shown throughout the year by all the Inverell Pony Club members.
