Fresh program helps hockey

07 Oct, 2008 11:32 AM
THE Inverell Hockey Association has been given $1700 from the Woolworths Fresh Kids Community Grants Program.

The association is the first in Inverell to be part of the ongoing campaign which sees the national store donating much-needed funds to local community groups to develop grass roots initiatives for primary school aged children.

The program aims to fund ideas and programs across food and nutrition, exercise and physical activity.

Junior coordinator Graham Marsh said the money would be used to purchase equipment and shirts for the kids to wear while they are playing.”

“We were very surprised because we didn’t think we would have a chance of getting the money out of all the people who applied.

“But it is great to see that even if you are in a small country town you can still be successful.

“We are very thankful for this donation.”
