Bingara Cup success for Oakenfull stable

09 Feb, 2010 08:36 AM
INVERELL trainer Wayne Oakenfull has continued his northern region cup success.

Oakenfull’s five-year old galloper Runaway Shadow was never headed in Saturday’s 1300m Bingara Cup, taking line honours by half a head.

Runaway Shadow started as second favourite (5-2) and was smartly ridden by veteran jockey Danny Frahm to beat Straw Vote and favourite Mountain Brew.

“It was a great feeling especially when she led all the way and hung on, it was very exciting and Danny rode her well,’’ Jillian said.

Jillian had her two children by her side for the special victory as Wayne was in Brisbane starting Samtheflirt which finished mid-field. It was Runaway Shadow’s fourth win for the Oakenfull stable.

The Cup win caps off a strong start to the year after Mr Braveheart won the Deepwater Cup two weeks ago.
