Josh Strang has regained his momentum at round two of the American Grand National Cross Country series with a fast finishing third place.
This some-what makes up for the first round, held in Florida, last Tuesday where Josh ran out of fuel on the last lap while holding down third place.
Round two was held in Georgia on a fast dry track and the top six riders were only seconds apart for the first 90 minutes of the three hour race.
Eventual winner, New Zealander, Paul Wibley got a small break on the refuel lap and held the gap to the finish. Strang was involved in a mishap with former team mate Jimmy Jarrett on the second last corner.
Josh jumped an obstacle into the corner which put his bike into contact with the Kawasaki rider, both riders went down with Strang remounting first and could have taken second place however he waited for Jarrett to get going and then followed him to the finish.
Josh later said of the incident: “Maybe it was a mistake, but Jimmy is a good friend and I didn’t mean to run into him like that.
“I had food poisoning on Thursday so I didn’t know how much I would have left. I gave it everything I had,” he said.
The next round will be in North Carolina in two weeks.
