Test for Hawks against Rams

03 Jul, 2009 11:16 AM
The Inverell Hawks have a must win game ahead of them as they face the Armidale Rams in Inverell on Saturday.

After a few losses in recent weeks the Hawks will be looking for a return to the winning list, and are hoping their tried and tested mix of experience in the forward pack and youthful exuberance on the sides will get them over the line.

“Obviously we have a disappointing two weeks to come back from, but our experienced forward pack should be able to open the game up and get the ball to our kids on the wing to show off their brilliance,” Hawks publicity officer Mick Lewis said.

The Hawks will be running a full strength team on Saturday and are hoping to get in front of the Rams early in the piece.

“Last time we faced the Rams they got off to a great start and even though we caught up in the second half, we can’t let that happen again,” Lewis said.

“If we start well we can win it and it is a must win for the team.”

The Hawks need to win this match to keep within the top three on the group 19 leader board.

There will be no Juniors match this weekend, but President’s Cup and LeagueTag will both face Warialda at Varley Oval.

Games start at around 2.30, with first grade to kick off at 5pm for a twilight match.
