Tough task in Tamworth for Highlanders

03 Jul, 2009 11:15 AM
The Inverell Highlanders will have a tough game ahead of them this weekend when they travel to Tamworth to face the Magpies on home turf.

The Highlanders will play all four grades on Saturday, and if they win in first grade, will be pushed back into the top four of the Central North Rugby Union competition.

Club president Damon Scoble said that while the Magpies would be tough to beat, the Highlanders certainly had it in them to get over the line to victory.

“It will be a very tough game, travelling away from home is always difficult in any Central North game, but our forwards have shown in previous weeks that they can dominate a game, and they will have to do that this weekend to give the backs some room to move.”

The Highlanders will be running to full strength this weekend, and are definitely a different team from the start of the season where a series of losses battered the team’s confidence.

“It would be good to have a win this weekend and keep the boys confidence up, we’ll see how we go from there.”
