INVERELL shooters were among the winners at the Guyra Gun Club’s popular 100 Target Sporting Clays Championship on Sunday.

Matt Colley won the B Grade division, while Mick Wade collected the prize for C Grade.

In total, 54 shooters enjoyed the spring conditions and an interesting mix of targets. Inverell and Guyra shooters dominated the results with some very good sporting clays scores.

Guyra shooter Brad Henshall won the overall prize with an excellent score of 95/100. Guyra club members Roger Vidal (93/100) and Jeff Richardson (88/100) filled the placings in AA Grade.

The A Grade winner was Michael Roan from the Guyra club (84/100). Another Guyra member, David McMillan took second in A Grade (82/100). B grade went to Matt Colley from Inverell (78/100) and Jamie Saunders from Guyra shot 76/100 to take second.

C Grade went to Mick Wade also from the Inverell club (69/100) from Kevin Weatherall, a Tamworth shooter (74/100).

The Veterans’ champion was Doug Jackes (77/100) from Guyra and the winner of the ladies trophy was Christine Pischke from Inverell (59/100).

Two coveted 25 Break caps (for a perfect score of 25/25 in one round), were presented to Brad Henshall and Keith Cameron from the Quirindi club.

The New England Tri-Club Challenge Shield was presented to Roger Vidal. Both Vidal and Keith Cameron scored 344/400 as aggregate scores from the Glen Innes, Inverell and Guyra sporting clays shoots in 2009.

Vidal was awarded the shield after a mutually agreed coin toss.

The Guyra Club is grateful for the support of the Glen Innes and Inverell clubs that provided traps for the shoot. The major sponsors were Armidale Freight Services and Coates Hire. Other sponsors who supported the club were Super Moto Armidale, Super Air, JDs Hair Salon, Ray White Guyra, Danny Davis, Grant McCarroll Ford, Bill McClenaghan - Achil West Downs and Wayne Heagney who sponsored the 25 Break caps.

Guyra next shoots on Sunday, November 8 with 5 Stand and Skeet at 12 noon. On Saturday, November 28, Trench will be held at 9.30am, prior to the DTL events, including the Single Barrel Continental Championships, at 12.30pm.
