The funds were the proceeds from this year’s event and were donated to support the skate park extensions in Inverell.
Toughen Up committee member, Lynn Lennon, said the success of the day and on-going plans ensure the Toughen Up Challenge will continue into the future.
“This year’s event was extremely successful and everyone competed within the spirit of the event and it was a great day out for everyone,” Lynn said.
“Planning for next year’s event will commence in August and I can see it being a bigger and better challenge.”
The 2014 event is set down for Inverell Highlanders Rugby Park on Saturday, March 1.
The Toughen Up Committee has called for interested people and organisations seeking financial support for projects within the Inverell community to complete an expression of interest form.
“These forms can be picked up from Inverell Family Youth Support Service at 92 Otho Street or by contacting me on 6722 4351 or by email youthworker@pathfinders-aus.org,” Lynn said.
“Projects that wish to be considered for funding must meet the criteria outlined in the expressions of interest form and will be limited to the purchase of equipment, improvement to existing infrastructure or the building of new infrastructure.
“The funds will not leave the local community.”
Funding to the successful applicants will be made available at the conclusion of the 2014 event.
