Seven Crown Reserves in the Inverell Local Government Area will share in grants totalling almost $51,000 under the NSW Government’s Public Reserve Management Fund (PRMF), according to Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall.

Announcing the funding on Thursday, Mr Marshall said the funds were earmarked for community halls and recreation reserves in the Inverell Shire to undertake very important infrastructure upgrades.
He said the funding slated for reserves in the Shire were part of almost $320,000 allocated throughout the Northern Tablelands from the PRMF this year.
“I am delighted to see significant funding being channelled into our local reserves to improve them for the benefit of the whole community,” Mr Marshall said.
“These grants will also ease some of the time and financial burdens on the many volunteers who maintain the reserves.
“And on council, which is often asked to help out with various projects.
“I have spoken to several of the successful groups already and know what a huge difference this funding will make to their activities and buildings.”
Inverell Shire Council mayor, Paul Harmon, said he was pleased to see the money being spent on reserves within the area.
“We are very happy to accept all funding to region from the NSW government,” Cr Harmon said.
“We know how hard Adam works to make sure funding flows into our region so it is very much appreciated.”
Grants from the PRMF have been offered to:
$2,600 for the Elsmore Common Trust to assist with the replacement of 1000 metres of fencing along the adjoining boundary;
$8,000 for the Gilgai Hall and Recreation Reserves Trust to repair and update the hall, replace the hot water system and produce a web site;
$25,000 for the Mt Russell Community Hall Committee to weatherproof the hall by undertaking roof repairs;
$3,000 for the Myall Creek Public Hall and Recreation Reserve Trust to assist with the purchase of a mower to be kept onsite;
$5,000 for the Nullamanna Public Hall & Recreation Reserve Trust to assist with the insulation of the hall;
$4,620 for the Staggy Creek Recreation Reserve Trust to replace the old boundary fence with new stock proof fencing; and
$2,684 for the Wallangra War Memorial Hall Trust to install a bench, servery area, shelves and cupboards.
