A LOCAL information day for residents of Warialda will be held ahead of the early switch to digital-only free-to-air TV in October.
A Digital Switchover liaison officer will be hosting an information day on Monday August 13 at the Warialda Golf and Bowling Club between 5pm to 7pm.
Analog TV in Warialda is being switched off two months earlier than the rest of Northern NSW to make way for new digital TV services, which will mean Warialda will access all 16 digital free-to-air digital channels from the ABC, SBS and commercial broad-casters for the first time.
Residents can drop in to find out what to expect on the day of the switchover and receive tips and advice about how to best tune into the new digital TV services.
To access the new digital services after analog signals are switched off, residents will need to ensure their televisions can receive the digital signal by either connecting a set-top box or digital TV recorder to their existing analog TV, or upgrading to a digital TV.
Some buildings may also need to upgrade their antenna systems and cables.
People who rent their homes or live in buildings with shared antenna systems should check with their landlords or body corporate to ensure their building is ready for digital TV.
The Household Assis-tance Scheme is available for eligible people in Warialda.
