THERE will be 12 candidates vying for nine seats when Inverell Shire goes to the polls on September 8.
Nominations closed on Wednesday and include newcomers Garry Newley, Mark McNeil, Simon Gaukroger, and Phillip Girle.
Mr Girle has previously stood for council in a by-election two years ago.
Current councillors who will be recontesting the upcoming election are Jacki Watts, David Jones, Mal Peters, Barry Johnston, Di Baker, Paul Harmon, Harold Castledine and Anthony Michael.
The ballot paper draw for Inverell, Glen Innes and Tenterfield council elections was held in the Glen Innes Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
Jacki Watts’ name was drawn first in Wednesday’s ballot and will appear at the top of the ballot paper.
The candidates’ names will appear in the following order:
