On the Pulse was somewhat disturbed last week during Barnaby Joyce’s visit to Inverell, after it came to light that he hasn’t seen the light at all.
BJ remains an avid cane toad supporter!
On the Pulse was shocked to witness an incident that occurred when he was introduced to another reprobate, allegedly of the toad persuasion.
BJ displayed complete indifference to one of this state’s most esteemed traditions: the annual State Of Origin cockroach call that echoes across NSW every June.
BJ and his accomplice flaunted their allegiance to Toad Hall and chuckled loudly together, while reminiscing about some historical aspect of the last seven years.
Adam Marshall was also present at the crime scene and (it has to be said) was standing just a little too close to the getaway car, if you know what we mean.
On the Pulse detected he may have been enjoying the affirmation of amphibious superiority just a little too much.
When asked to define his geographical allegiances his answer remained somewhat nebulous.
“What do you think? I’m a member of the NSW Parliament,” he answered cryptically. “But I have to say, I was born in Emerald.”
Indeed.
While troubling for On the Pulse (we were moved to change our masthead to blue this week), it is not a new situation.
Tony Windsor was a Queensland supporter and they still let him take office.
But it does serve as a warning for everyone in the north of this state; the cane toad invasion began in earnest with the arrival of BJ.
Sailing for the doctor
On the Pulse was very pleased to get an update on the progress of the 75-foot yacht Gamin, which is heading to china as part of the Clipper Around the world Yacht Race.
As reported by The Inverell Times on January 21, that’s the yacht with Keith and Valerie Parson’s son-in-law Richard Hincks onboard.
He’s fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service as part of the trip.
At the moment the yacht is making steady progress up the north coast of Papua New Guinea and heading for the Equator, but the crew still has a long way to sail.
For anyone who would like to follow Richard’s progress online, www.clipperroundtheworld.com is the website to go to, and for those who would like to donate to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the website www.everydayhero.com.au/FlyingDoctorsatsea is the address to check out.
Bingo back in Tingha
History will be made in Tingha on Saturday night.
The community’s bingo competition starting again for the fourth year in a row, On the Pulse understands this is something of a record.
We must be doing something right, commented Colleen Graham in an email to On the Pulse.
Well done to all the loyal supporters and helpers.
In the Twittersphere
On the Pulse was somewhat amused to discover we have one reader out there who prefers our efforts to the rest of the newspaper.
No, we can’t understand it either.
But the Member for Northern Tablelands did declare he was a Pulse fan on Twitter on Wednesday, with the hashtag #firstthingiturnto. Morning Adam!
We hope the State of Origin business has not diminished your view of OTP.
Once you have finished reading here, we suggest you turn back to the news pages.
For the record, Mr Marshall’s tweet was in reply to one from our editor who had just read the State of Origin item and took to Twitter to give the MP a heads-up that he was again in the sights of OTP.
