INVERELL EASTS

I think Leo Parker might be coming into form for the major/minor pairs coming up shortly. He combined with David Morgan to win the Thursday event with +19. No other social bowls were possible due to the State lel=vel 3 playoffs. Weren’t they a roaring success. Everyone was high in their praise of the greens, our club, the food and the overall organization. The board would like to congratulate our manager Katie, the staff and all the volunteers for a wonderful job over the weekend. Inverell will benefit I’m sure as all our visitors were very impressed with the town and its friendly atmosphere. Not many would know that our shire council put up the money to have the event staged here. In fact 7 rural councils organized to have a state playoff in their locality. It was money well spent. Coming events will see the Champion of Champions Singles being played at Bingara on 11th August at 9.am. S.Hamilton will play R.Berghofer and P.Breen

(Bingara) will play I.Briggs(Moree). The final is at 1.10p.m. The champion of club champions pairs will be played at Warialda on 18th August. The draw is M.McCosker/M.Butler to play C.Walton/ d.Milgate and K.Skaines/N.Woodcock vs.S/Griese/D.Farrell at 9.10 a.m. The final will be played at 1.10 p.m. The Rookies singles will also be played on the 18th and we wish Frank Kiem and Caleb Heagney all the best in this event. At a club level we welcome our new Bowls Coordinator, Adam Ross who is keen to become more involved in the club scene. We wish him well. Nominations are now open for the following events. Details are on the board. Club Mixed Pairs, Major/Minor pairs and A.E.R. mixed pairs all to be played in September. Get your entries in please. Special mention should be made of our Secretary manager, Katie. She worked tirelessly over the weekend, Her organization was magnificent and she received several job offers from clubs who wanted to take her home with them. Come and see us and Inverell East, the club on a roll. Congratulations for a wonderful effort to R.S.M.’s fours who were narrowly beaten in the State playoffs at Orange, (Silver is still very good) and Gold to Warialda who were undefeated in Winning the State level7 title.

RSM BOWLS

Thursday Social winners were R Schieb and J Kreskay and runners up S Luxford and L Bienke. Jackpot was not won. Last weekend the RSM No. 4 Pennant Team travelled to orange to contest the State Playoffs. In round 1 they defeated Greenacre from Zone 12 in Sydney, Round 2 defeated Seaforth from Zone 9 in Sydney and Round 3 defeated Swansea from Zone 2, Newcastle. This gave them the section win and a spot in the semi-finals where they would face the home town favourites, Orange City.

RSM got off to a slow start but by the half-way mark were clawing their way back, and held a slender lead at the 48th end. RSM then held multiple counts on all three rinks only to watch all three Orange skips convert on all rinks with their last bowl to take a 1 shot lead. The crowd support for Orange came to the fore and lifted the home team to a 66-58 win. Orange City from Zone 4 then went on to win the State Flag defeated Barmedman from Zone 8, 75-51. The RSM team can be proud of their efforts on reaching a State Semi-Final. Congratulations to Warialda who played in the No 7’s at Port Macquarie and came back as the State Pennant Champions. A great effort by the Little Club.

A big thanks to those who ran the No 3 Playoff hosted by Inverell. There are too many to tank, but from all reports things ran very smoothly, so well done to all those who helped out at both RSM and Easts.
