Never was this more apparent when 26 individuals from the Inverell district gave their time and devotion to a project called the Post2Coast Charity Postie Bike Ride.
While the group doubled their original goal of $20,000 for two charities, what became apparent in the evolution of the event was the capacity of others to support and celebrate the scheme.
Friendships were forged and a community created from Inverell to Newcastle in a common goal.
The cavalry of riders reported strangers approaching them at stop lights, servos, restaurants, pubs and in the street to push bills into hands and thank them for giving it a go as they made their way from town to town.
In our frantic race to be alive in 2014, that link to our humanness, as members of one tribe looking after each other is often lost.
This dedicated group drove their way back to restoring faith in being a caring and loving people.
Thank you to every rider and anybody who played a part in getting those bikes to the coast.
And congratulations.
