Bowls co-ordinator Robert Hook said the weather this year could not have been better.
“It was a great four days of bowls,” he said.
“Brendon Baker from Currie Currie took out the singles tournament. He’s originally from around this area, from out at Bundarra and he used to play here at Inverell East when he was living here.
“The runner up was John McIllwain, he is from Guyra. We had some great bowls all around.
Hook said the usual busload of bowlers came to town from Grandview.
“They’ve been coming here for about seven years and they come down every year for Easter,” he said.
Hook said he thought the carnival probably brings about 200 people into the town for the four days of play.
“We get a good roll-up every year. Everything was full this year, with the pairs and the singles and we ran a triples contest this year. That’s where we do sectional play.
“Everyone said it was pretty good. It went well considering the carnivals that are around at Easter-time here.”
The winners of the pairs competition were Brendon Baker and Russell Burghoffer and the runners-up were John McHussen and Mick Whitton from Grandview.
