Locally trained galloper Lenny’s Lot was crowned 2011/ 2012 Hunter and North West Racing Association horse of the year for his efforts in 2011/2012.
Lenny was first past the post on six occasions. He created history by becoming the first horse to win four bracelets in the one year and was unlucky not to make it five from five when narrowly going down in the Moree Bracelet resulting in a second.
His wins were as follows: Armidale 1/11/11 Glen Innes 14/1/12 Armidale 27/1/12 Mallawa 9/6/12 Talmoi 23/6/12 and Wean 7/7/12.
Prepared in Inverell by local trainer Luke Berger Lenny managed to break two track records –Talmoi in where he was only the fourth ever horse to break a minute for 1000m at the track running 58.79 and wean were he broke Scottish Opera’s long standing track and race record running 57.93 under the huge impost of 66kilos.
Lenny’s lot is raced by a huge group of owners, including Anna Akhurst, Ron Myler, Peter O’Neill, Rowan Butler, Dick Gleeson, Rose Higgins, Shannon Zammitt, Stewart Campbell and David Cook.
Lenny is currently spelling before returning to work to prepare for racing in the local area throughout the Christmas period.
