Several good sized fish were measured in over the two days, including an 82 centimetre Cod by up-and-coming junior member Daniel Mepham. This capture gave Daniel enough points to win the junior division, which he is starting to make a habit of.PP
In the seniors, Zac Conn backed up his strong effort from last month and put together a nice bag of Yellow Belly, Catfish and Redfin which landed him the number one podium position.
The highlight for the club came at their Sunday lunch- time presentation when club president, Peter Black, was able to lend some assistance to the local prostrate cancer support group.
“Our club fishes in the nationwide Pirtek Challenge each year which raises money for prostrate cancer research,” Black said.
“We were also keen to do something locally, so we have used the proceeds from our recent wood raffle and put together a $250 donation to the Inverell Prostrate Cancer Support Group.”
Inverell Prostate Cancer Support Group leader, Kerry White, was on hand to accept the cheque from the fishing club.
White expressed his gratitude for the donation.
“The money will be staying locally to help those in need,” he said.
The fishing club will be heading over to Iluka for their next outing on August 16-17.
