“If we hadn’t started this committee it would just have closed up and I didn’t want that,” she said.
Kastelein said Inverell athletes have had a lot of success.
“Last year there were a lot of kids who went right through to State,” she said.
“We’ve got good athletes here and if we don’t keep it going, they’ve got nothing.”
Little Athletics train every Thursday afternoon from 4.30pm to 6pm at Varley Oval. Children from four to 17-years-old are welcome to attend.
Kastelein said this year Inverell was asked to hold the zone carnival.
“It’s a huge two-day event and last year it was held in Tamworth. If we could have that here it would be awesome.”
Kastelein said the committee could always use more volunteers.
“We always have helpers out on the field, doing timekeeping and all those sorts of things,” she said.
The new committee said it would like to remind parents of the level 1 coaching course to be held in Gunnedah on Saturday, August 23.
Little athletics can also be followed on their Facebook page and website.
