Luke is in charge of collecting daily data from the new school weather station, recording the information and at the end of each week, supplying the school with the weather highlights every two weeks.
The 12-year-old said he is interested in meteorology. He works with his student aide, Lynn Sims, to deliver the data to the school. The pair looked at the clipboard where Luke keeps his weather notations.
“Now that he’s done two weeks of it, what he’ll do now is he’ll tell me the coldest morning was Monday, it had rain on Monday.
“Then he’ll write that on another little bit of paper with pictures and he’ll take it to the front office,” Lynn explained.
“So Luke’s weather, will then go in every fortnight to tell you the coldest morning and the next fortnight might be something else.”
They hope to add a weathervane for Luke to report wind direction, and even a sun dial to add another facet to the data he collects.
“And make this the weather garden. Wouldn’t that be a good idea? You never know, somebody might donate one!” Lynn smiled.
