WHILE at Inverell on Monday the Member for Northern Tablelands, Adam Marshall, visited new public exercise equipment that has been installed by the Inverell Shire Council beside Captain Cook Drive, near the Lawrence Street footbridge.

The project came in at a cost of $30,000. Council funded $20,000 and the state government picked up the tab of $10,000 for the project, which supplements the public exercise equipment further up the river in Campbell Street, across from the Coles car park.
Mr Marshall was accompanied on his inspection by Mayor Paul Harmon who said he thought many people would take advantage of the new equipment.
“If you come out of a morning you’d be surprised at how many people actually use the walkway and the equipment,” he said.
Mr Marshall said he thought the council’s initiative was an excellent idea.
“It’s good to see Inverell Shire Council taking such a pro-active role in the community’s fitness,” he said.
