Inverell Family and Youth Support Services (IFYSS) are inviting parents to attend ‘Parenting Made Easy’, a free, eight session workshop beginning October 14.
Four main topics will be addressed over eight weeks. Parenting in a nutshell explores the rights and responsibilities of parents, and foundation information.
IFYSS Family Worker Stephanie Mouthann said the Communication topic gives parents a new perspective.
“Because, it’s a scary world when you’re only three and you have all these legs around you so get down and see what you can see from their angle,” she said.
By the third topic, Give N Take, Stephanie said participants will be given a booklet outlining the physical and mental milestones as a guide for parents.
Safe and Strong is the final topic addressing neglect and what parents should look out for. Stephanie said the program is designed for everybody to build a positive parenting strategy and offer hints to success.
She said the workshops are specifically designed for adults, to focus on the topics and discuss their experiences with children of all ages.
“Because people then interact and talking about their issues at different stages,” Stephanie said.
Parenting Made Easy begins on Tuesday, October 14 from 11am to 2pm at Armajun Training Room, Rivers Street, and continues every Tuesday until December 2. Lunch will be provided. For more information or to register, please phone IFYSS on 6722 4351.
