The event is the Team Inverell Adventure charity ride, and all the money collected is landing right in the Scrapheap Adventure Ride (SAR) kitty to raise funds for families with a Downs Syndrome child.
Registration is at 8am at the oxford. The cost is $40 for the 300km ride on secondary shire roads and private properties are opening their paddocks just for the event.
The riders depart at 9.30am and the fee includes a barbecue lunch. Riders return about 5pm with prize draws at the hotel.
The SAR was started 10 years ago by Perry Gilsenan, a father of a Downs Syndrome child. He wanted a vehicle to help support families with education and programs about the disability.
Perry is joining the riders this weekend.
Organiser Col Meacham said late registrations are welcome. They will join bikes from Inverell, around the North West region and as far as Brisbane and Sydney.
Inverell Motorcycles has backed the SAR, and tomorrow’s ride. They are taking part with two new Yamaha adventure bikes.
Owner Mark ‘Turbo’ Turner said he was proud to contribute.
“This is a great cause to be part of. This is going to be a great weekend, and I’m just glad to be part of it.”
There are about Inverell 13 riders setting out for the Scrapheap Adventure Ride on September 19-21.
