Greg is only the third Inverell Rotarian to hold the District Governors position since 1949.
His predecessors were Keith Hopper in 1958 and John Pilcher in 1982.
Greg held separate board meetings with the two clubs prior to a combined dinner meeting in the RSM.
The dinner meeting was a relaxed affair with both Greg and his wife talking on different subjects.
Even Greg appeared somewhat proud when he heard in detail the projects and disbursements of money by both clubs.
The International Rotary Presidents theme for this year is ‘Lighting up Rotary’ which in turn lights the rest of the world, and this seems evident, even on a small scale, with the work and time put in by local Rotarians.
With projects like the book sale, the great duck race, the talent show, policemen of the year, exchange students, Muna, the School Science show, and on and on it goes.
Over and above that, there was a large amount of money disbursed by both clubs in the last 12 months.
Over the last six weeks, Greg and Sue have visited and spoken to 34 clubs and still more to go.
They decided to do it a little different than previous DG’s by buying a caravan and using that as a base in different areas.
The Rotary district spreads from Lightning Ridge south to Coonamble and Woolgoolga south to Forster.
Both Greg and Sue produced a video presentation which covered Rotary’s shelter box and some of our local clubs activities in places such as East Timor and Kokoda.
The whole evening was well received by the attending Rotarians and partners.
