Following the last eight months of activities to bump up the totals, the students are hosting their annual charity night with big auctions, raffles, fun and entertainment. 

Flocks of students invaded the Inverell CBD last Thursday with trays of frosted cupcakes and muffins to raise funds. Six girls stopped into the Inverell Times office to ply their baked goods.

“We stayed up really late to make them,” student Bonnie Miller smiled.  

Tilly Witherden said the year had seen the year 12 students organise Christmas and Valentine-themed activities to raise money, and had another bake sale and barbecue to put cash in the kitty.

“I think we all agree that we really like this charity ‘cause it’s giving straight back to the community. Everyone’s directly affected by the equipment that’s up at the operating room,” Tilly said. The students are kicking off their big day with a car wash from 8.30am to 5pm at Beaure-paires on Byron Street. Small cars get the grime off for $5, and large cars and utes are $7. 

Student Lachlan Fowke said the local business community has been very big-hearted getting behind the annual event. 

“They’ve been really generous and really came out to help us and given us lots to auction off, and donated money,” he said.

The Inverell High School Charity Night begins at 6.30pm tomorrow night and entry is by a gold coin donation.
