Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall met with Tingha Minor League committee members to inspect the amenities block. 

He said he was pleased to be able to support the club’s funding application. 

“Tingha Minor League is going ahead in leaps and bounds,” Mr Marshall said. 

“The club is again fielding teams in the region’s junior league competition which is proving to be very popular in the town. 

“With the increased interest from the junior ranks, it’s become a necessity that the club provide change rooms for their female players.” 

Mr Marshall praised the efforts of Sharon Gates and Robyn Dixon and thanked them for on their perseverance and commitment to the youth of Tingha. 

“This is just fantastic news; the best thing I ever did was to start this minor league up,” Ms Gates said. 

“For our very first season we did so well; the under 16s boys and the girls’ league tag both made it into the finals in Armidale. 

“Our under 8s came in second position so it’s been a great season. 

“Because we’ve had such a great response from the girls in Tingha interested in playing rugby league, we’ve had to extend the amenities to provide them with a change room and showers. 

“We have a few fund raisers in Tingha and have great community to get this project up and away. 

“This is a great boost for our community and we are so excited.”
