TWENTY-SIX serving police officers and staff were awarded with National and NSW Police Medals and bravery commendations and Pastor Randall Gauger of Inverell’s Danthonia community was invested as a NSW Police Chaplain at a special New England Local Area Command awards presentation ceremony in Armidale on Wednesday, September 17.

The ceremony was attended by the Member for Northern Tablelands, Adam Marshall, who said the region was ‘extremely well served’ by its local police.
“We’re very fortunate to have such a professional and community-focussed police force here in the Northern Tablelands and I congratulate all the officers and staff who have been recognised for their exceptional service,” he said.
“The recent crime statistics show that crime in this region is stable or dropping in the 17 crime categories, which is testament to the work of our police.”
The award recipients included: Senior Constable Richard Webb (Bundarra) Western Region Commendation, NSW Police Medal first clasp and Sergeant Jay Tuckwell (Tingha) Western Region Commendation, NSW Police Medal, for their actions in the arrest of an armed offender in 2012.
Senior Constable Brad Savins (Inverell) - Western Region Certificate of Merit for his actions performing life preserving CPR under adverse conditions.
Senior Constable Gregory Dillow (Tingha) - Central Metropolitan Region Certificate of Merit and Unit Citation for his actions at the scene of an armed robbery and hostage situation, and his actions at the scene of an explosion and fire while attached to Botany Bay Command.
Constable Mitchell Milne (Inverell) - New England LAC Certificate of Merit for remarks made by the Deputy State Coroner in relation to the performance of his duties during a critical incident.
Senior Constable Paul Hoskins (Inverell) - National Police Medal and first clasp, NSW Police Medal third clasp for 25 years service.
Sergeants Tim Ginman and Tony Ehsman, as well as Senior Constable Mark McLachlan received the second clasp to the NSW Police Medal for 20 years service.
Senior Constables Pat Lennon (Ashford), Hamish Brown (Inverell) and Peter Foley (Inverell) received the NSW Police Medal and Sergeant Andrew McKay (Inverell) received a Warrant of Appointment to the rank of Sergeant.
