IF the success of the New England Mutual Charity Bowls night can be measured by the amount of the funds raised, then this year’s night was an outstanding success on so many levels.

The night was held at Inverell East Bowling Club on Thursday, September 18, and raised $6200 for Inverell Prostate Cancer Support Group and the McLean Care Ladies Auxiliary.
Club manager Scott Langley said it had been a fantastic night.
“We managed to raise over $2000 more than we did last year, so our expectations are high for next year,” Scott said.
“It was great community support and a wonderful night.”
Scott said one thing that really gauged the community’s support was the sale of an anchor during the auction to a person who did not own a boat.
Prostate support group president Kerry White agreed it was a great night.
“Scott did a great job auctioneering,” he said.
“It happens every time we have a fundraising, the people of Inverell just get behind us. It doesn’t matter what it is, it’s a very generous community, this town of ours and we very much appreciate it.
“The work the people here at Community Mutual Group have done was just tremendous.”
Pam Gowlett from McLean Care Ladies Auxiliary said she was very impressed with the night.
“It was a really fun night, even though it was cold. And the community, I couldn’t get over how open the community was to fundraising,” Pam said.
She said the funds would go towards those ‘extra niceties’ and the help, such as waterbeds, water chairs and the special lifters.
“Things that make life easier for the residents and also the nursing staff who look after them. It was such a good night and we can’t thank the staff from Community Mutual enough for the effort they put in,” Pam said.
