The sale attracted bookworms from high and low on the bargain hunt.

Local Rotarian Bob Neich said book hunters were not disappointed, with the annual sale trading in single item prices for box-load deals.

“We tried something different this year - we sold the books by measurement,” he said.

“That seemed to work very well and people got a better deal and a number of people came back two and three times because they felt the price was very good.”

It was a bookworm’s haven with many avid readers coming back for a second and even third load of pre-loved reads.

“Those books are much loved, that’s the important thing, and some people come and buy their books for reading for the next 12 months.”

The annual sale is amassing quite the following Mr Neich said, greeting bargain hunters from as far as Port Macquarie and all across the New England and North West regions.

The sale takes nearly the full year to prepare and Mr Neich said this year’s invigorated sale technique has ranked on par with previous years.

“We are quite comfortable with the method we have used,” he said.

“We had less books left over and yet we probably started out with a similar amount to what we had last year.”

He said local Rotarians are looking forward to the short break before preparations for next year’s sale commence as early as March.

As for this year’s sale, Mr Neich said constant numbers continued throughout the three-day event, with the final hours of sale on Sunday morning proving to be quite hectic as local and visiting page-turners bagged that last-minute deal.
