Staff arrived at the Times office this morning to find papers taken from old filing cabinets strewn across the old press room floor.
A brick had been thrown through a window near the ceiling of the premises.
Inverell police said damage was also reported at Inverell High School over the weekend with nine windows smashed, and three at windows broken at Ross Hill Public School.
Ross Hill also sustained further damage with class rooms penetrated and paint flung on the carpet and a pet goldfish
Vandals entered the press area of The Inverell Times and emptied bottles of cleaning products across the floor, tore open a raffle box and pulled out materials from a file cabinet.
Inverell crime manager, Inspector Rowan O’Brien said there have not been any episodes of similar incidents in the community for some time, and the actions were out of the blue.
Police allege the damage to Inverell High School occurred between Friday night and Sunday morning. The Ross Hill damage occurred on Saturday night.
Inverell police request that witnesses with information phone 6722 0599.
