The theme for this year will be ‘Be Unique’, which recognises individuality.

Personal helper and mentor from the Benevolent Society, June Roberts, said every person has different needs and different things that they require in their life.

“To back that up we have invited a bunch of different services from Inverell to come in on the 24th and present to the public what they do,” June said.

“There’ll be a huge range of services, from aged care through to disabilities, families, mental health, as well as education. We’ve got the community college and TAFE being represented on the day as well.

“We’ve got Judith Hill, who is a consumer representative of PRA in Tamworth and who has a lived experience of mental health issues, as our guest speaker on the day. 

“Her daughter is also coming along to speak, she looked after her mum.”

June said the event would be very much an awareness day that aimed to let people know that help is available.

“Whatever it is, there is someone out there who can help. And this will hopefully help them to take those first steps to getting that help,” June said.

“There’ll be no diagnosis on the day, just lucky door prizes and a free barbecue lunch.”

She said the event had been well supported by local businesses and there would be about 20 prizes donated by them to be won on the day.
