Staggy Creek won the toss and elected to bat with Paul Dailey and Tom Lavender opening in a confident mood.
First to go was Lavender (19) when Jack Cole found the edge and keeper Gardner took a simple catch. Dailey quickly found his rhythm and was racing towards a half-century.
He saw four partners dismissed quickly then he himself was caught on the boundary for a well-made 53. C&F fought back well to roll Staggy for 109.
Jack Cole inspired his team with 3-32 off eight overs while stand-in skipper Richard Wilson took 3-49.
C&F commenced the run chase but were soon in bother at 3-18. A recovery was paramount but only Wilson defied the attack with 24.
Jack Cole (12) and Jacob Haines (12) were the only double figure batsmen with C&F limping to a paltry 75.
Mick Kenny broke the back of the top order with 3-18 off eight overs while Kyle Chilcott mopped up the tail with 3-9.
Donnelly and Whitechurch with two wickets each gave solid support to give Staggy a comprehensive victory. In B grade, Invincibles 2 were home to Tingha Taipans at Brooks Oval. Tingha won the toss and sent Invincibles in to bat.
The best for Invincibles, Jake Buckingham 23, Brendon Germ-any 22 and Billy Higgins 19, gave support in reaching a team total of 118 off 30 overs.
Tingha’s bowlers to shine were Warren Williams, 3-12 off 3 overs, Brandon Livermore 2-7 off four and Les Gardiner claimed 2-20. The run chase was another quick-fire affair with the game over in 10 overs.
In a winning total of 4-121 Ray Connors made 40, Lex Livermore 30 and Brandon Livermore 19, the latter two remaining not out.
Adam Sharwood was the best for Invincibles 2 with 3-49.
In the second B grade match Square & Compass forfeited to Invincibles 1.
The A Grade match at McCosker 2 was a close affair as Royal Rats scored a win over Aussies.
Royal Rats were first to bat and built a tidy total to finish with 8-194. Scott Darby batted well to compile an eye-catching 52 and was well supported by Scott Leonard with 26.
Rosco Kingsley was the most successful bowler for Aussies bagging 4-29 with support from Nick Cumming with 2-38.
In reply the Aussies started confidently courtesy of Nathan Fisher with a well-made 39.
They showed a promising chance to push for a win while Fisher was at the crease, but the Rats were jubilant upon his dismissal.
Lachlan Binnie was the thorn in their side plugging away with regular wickets.
Jon Krauss, ever a match-winner reached 34 before losing his wicket.
The tide was turning and with just eighteen runs required Aussies were in sight of victory.
Binnie proved to be the decisive factor for the Rats success when the final wicket fell.
The Aussies were finally dismissed for 176.
Binnie finished with 5-41 and Bobby Russell took 1-15 while Ben Hutchinson also claimed one wicket.
