Jim Doran, 81, was employed as Holy Trinity’s first lay-principal in 1979 and 1980.
He was arrested at his Kingscliff home on September 16 in relation to an ongoing investigation - called Strike Force Golvo - into sexual abuse of students at St John’s College Woodlawn boarding school.
He was arrested by officers from the Richmond Local Area Command. Following his arrest, Mr Doran was transported to Tweed Heads police station where he was charged with nine counts of sexual assault against a child, three counts of sex assault, four counts of indecent assault, one count of detain for advantage and two counts of soliciting a male to commit an indecent act.
The offences allegedly occurred between 1977 and 1986 while Mr Doran was a lay-teacher at the school.
He was granted conditional bail and appeared at Lismore Local Court on October 20 when the case was adjourned to December 16 for mention only, and his bail was continued.
Police believe there could be further victims.
They are appealing for them to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
