In 2013, she joined over 1400 Australian bartenders and venues to raise $1.39 million for the Leukaemia Foundation help people with blood cancer.
UGLY stands for Unique Generous Lovely You, a competition now in its sixth year for the foundation. Tash began participating in 2012 while working at the Aussie, and raised about $2300. She more than doubled that total last year with $7000, and exceeded her hopes to a $10,000 contribution this year.
“I just think everyone gets behind it when they know it’s for a good cause,” Tash said. Last weekend was the clincher for the competition. An auction on Friday night raised $4500 and the UGLY Games saw another $3000 added to the kitty.
The games were held in Victoria Park alongside the Grafton to Inverell festivities. Tash said though the weather was a challenge, there were seven enthusiastic teams competing in the games, including four who came across from Moree.
“It was hot, everyone just stayed in the shade a lot,” she laughed.
Em Warrener, Rach Sutton, Joe Kimmance and Josh Abbott came out on top for the games, but Tash said the competition was really close. A garage sale at the Aussie on Sunday also put some dollars in the pot.
