Rats won the toss and batted on a favourable deck at McCosker 2. The Staggy Creek bowlers made early inroads and it was left to Vaughn Gallen to resurrect the innings with a fighting 48. Grant Sargeant scored 26 and Bobby Russell remained 21 not out in a team total of 139.

Mick Kenny again bowled well to finish with 3-8 off six overs while Blake Whitechurch took 3-34.

Staggy Creek set about the run chase in stylish fashion with Troy Brabant leading the way with a positive 64. The ever-present Mick Kenny scored 32 with Tom Lavender making 23. Staggy Creek took first innings points to close proceedings at 4 -143.

The best bowler for Royal Rats was Ashley Connors taking 4-36 off six overs.

Campbell & Freebairn met Aussies at Varley Oval in Round 3 of the other A Grade fixture.

Aussies won the toss and batted, however it was all uphill for the new A Grade outfit. Sean Rynne took two wickets in his opening over and at 3-12 Aussies were backpeddling. Tom Scoble joined the demolition, and after four overs he too had claimed three wickets. Marsh and Wilson completed the rout with Aussies making a dismal 44 runs all out. Smart catching was the highlight of the day; five slips catches with Brendon Campbell accepting three of those catches.

Rynne finished with 4-16 off eight overs and Scoble, his able new-ball partner took 3-14. Nathan Marsh claimed 2-4 off two overs.

In reply C & F coasted to a first innings win to finish at 1-48. Blake Uebergang was unbeaten on 33 while Sage Cook batted with confidence to remain eleven not out.

B Grade side, Square & Compass provided a wonderful team effort last Saturday, spearheaded by youngster Joe Smith. Joe registered his maiden century in senior cricket in compiling 122 against Invincibles 2.

He remained undefeated in his sparkling innings but was forced to retire hurt due to heat-wave conditions. Team-mates to support in the run spree were Declan Drake 73, Liam Spalding 36, and newcomer to senior ranks, young Harry Moses with an eye-catching 44 not out.

Square and Compass completed their 40 overs with a massive 6 for 327. Adam Sharwood toiled hard in the heat to register 2-66.

It was all one-way traffic with with Invincibles 2 folding for 74. Brendan Germany on 16 and Craig Rex 14, were the best for Invincibles 2. 

Bowling honours for Sq. & C went to Jai Tasker with 4-12 while Jason Mudaliar claimed 3-18.

The second B Grade encounter saw Tingha Taipans maintain the competition lead with their third successive win. 

They won the toss and invited Invincibles 1 to bat first. Jessie Williams laid the foundations for a good team total scoring 72. However, support from his partners was restricted to Nick Kellner with 41 and Dan McLaughlan 19. A respectable but not an awesome total of 158 by Invincibles 1 was Tinghas' target.

For Tingha, Terry Lea finished with the fine figures of 5-16 off seven overs while Lex Livermore backed up with 3-35.

Tingha was in early trouble losing two wickets in the opening over. The tide turned with a powerhouse 66 from Ray Connors. Les Gardiner chipped in with 27 to have his side in sight of victory. 

Two quick wickets left the result up in the air, however Michael McMullen with a fighting 22 not out gave his team a hard-fought win to see Tingha sneak home at 8-159.

Jessie Williams added to his fine batting by taking 4-62 and Tim Torgau claimed two wickets. The safe hands of Dan McLaughlan landed him three catches for the losing team.
