King said his team of Muay Thai fighters range in age from nine to 34-years-old, and they have all been training hard for the last three months for the series.
“It’s a broad range, from youngest to oldest, and it’s good experience for the guys too because if it’s something they want to get into then we’ve got the right channelling to go that way,” King said.
“I think they’ll go really well because I’ve been putting a lot of sparring work in with the guys, getting their techniques up to scratch. Like, Tim Blair is one of our guys, and he is one who I think will do extremely well.”
King said he is expecting good results from his team because all the members had been turning up and putting in a big effort at training sessions.
“They’ve worked on a variety of skill and technique work,” King said.
He said the competition was very well-regulated.
“It’s all through Muay Thai Australia. Each of the fighters has got to have a blood test done, so they’ve had to go to doctors and get all that sort of stuff sorted out. Which is good; it’s good to know when you’re competing against somebody that everything’s all above board,” King said.
He said the recent visit by world champion Muay Thai fighter, Nathan Corbett, had left a lot of positive energy flowing through the centre.
“A few of my boys were interested in stepping into the ring and getting into that style of competition, and, yeah, it’s going to be a good competition,” King said.
