Police officers detected the man travelling at an estimated speed of almost 20km/hr over the speed limit at about 7pm last night on Ring Street.
The man was subjected to a roadside breath test where he returned a positive reading.
He was returned to Inverell Police Station where police said he returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.07.
The man was charged with speeding and driving with a low-range blood alcohol limit.
