NORTHERN Tablelands MP Adam Marshall has announced that the Inverell RSL Sub-branch has received further funding from the NSW Government to enhance the Inverell War Memorial.

Mr Marshall met with members of the sub-branch this week to deliver the good news and inspect progress on the current improvements works.
He said he was delighted to secure the $10,000 grant for the Inverell sub-branch through the NSW Community War Memorial Fund, which supports the restoration and conservation of local war memorials in towns and suburbs across NSW.
“The Inverell War Memorial stands as a constant reminder of the sacrifices of our local servicemen and women who have served in overseas conflict in defence of our freedoms,” he said.
“I congratulate the Inverell RSL members and acknowledge the work they are currently undertaking to enhance the memorial ahead of next year’s centenary of ANZAC commemorative services.
“I believe we have a responsibility to maintain our war memorials as a means of demonstrating that the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women have not, and will not, be forgotten.”
In February this year Mr Marshall secured $9,900 for the sub-branch to commence restoration works on the memorial. That work is underway now, with the generous assistance of Inverell Shire Council.
“This new funding will be used to redo the names etched on the memorial by repointing and regilding the lettering with 23 carat gold leaf and also refurbish the bronze panel,” Mr Marshall said.
“The sub-branch is also using some of its own funding for this project and I’m really looking forward to the finished product – it’ll be one of the most impressive memorials throughout the Northern Tablelands.”
