CAMPBELL & Freebairn (C&F) registered a good win against Royal Rats at McCosker Oval in the final game before the Christmas recess.

They batted first and started cautiously against an opponent that was keen for a win.
At 2/51 the game was evenly poised. The floodgates then opened with Dave Mudaliar and Sean Rynne hammering the Rats attack. Mudaliars’ good form continued scoring 77 while Rynne remained 80 not out in a total of 3/193.
Wicket takers for Rats were Vaughn Gallen, Lachlan Binnie and Ben Hutchinson with one wicket apiece.
In reply, C&F opening bowler Nathan Marsh struck with two early wickets to have the Rats facing an uphill battle at 3/46. Wickets tumbled, and four bowlers shared the next seven wickets. Blake Uebergang took 2/12, Richard Wilson cleaned up with 4/23 and the Royal Rats were all out for 103.
Staggy Creek took a forfeit from Aussies in the other A grade fixture.
In B grade at Brooks Oval, a clash of the two Invincibles sides provided an exciting finish. Invincibles 1 opened the batting with an impressive 198 off 37 overs.
Dan McLachlan top scored with 45 and received good backing from Dan Brown (33) Mike Williams (28) and Jacob Hines (21). A fine bowling performance by Brendon Cowley netted him 5/34 off 8 overs for Invincibles 2.
In their run chase, Invincibles 2 slumped to be 4/24, but recovered with a fine knock of 58 by Todd Hughes. Jason Muhs added 35 and Brendon Germany made 25, but they fell short by five runs to be all out for 194.
Tingha Taipans were at home to Square & Compass (S&C), sent the visitors in to bat and saw Eric Higgins (43) and Joe Smith (41) give S&C a good start. However, the rest of the batting line-up were ordinary they were all out for 153. Connors, Williams, Krauss and McMillan all took two wickets each for Tingha. In the field Neville Williams took three catches.
Tingha replied with a disappointing 81 to give S&C first innings points. Jake McMillan top scored with 29 while Greg Livermore and Leslie Connors both made 14.
Joe Smith tore through the Tingha line-up to finish with 5/11 off 5 overs while Jai Tasker snared 4/13 off 4 overs.
The competition will resume on Saturday, January 10 2015.
