NEM Inverell branch manager Alex Ribeiro said the breakfast raised $115 for Operation Operating Room (OOR).
“We’re in collaboration with Bunnings and we had Di Baker to support us with OOR, as well we raised 34 signatures for a petition for Adam Marshall, who’s seeking additional funds for Inverell Hospital,” Alex said.
“The boys cooked up a mean feed, and that’s why I think they get so many tradies turn up for the breakfast.
“We’re getting behind the hospital because I think it is something anyone can relate to in any town. I have lived in Cobar and can appreciate good health facilities, and I believe it is something Inverell deserves. I believe the population is growing as well, so it’s certainly something we’ll need.”
OOR president Di Baker said the support was very much appreciated.
“The credit union is a community facility that a lot of people belong to,” she said.
“The hospital is also a community facility that is needed by every family at one point or another. So we’re combining the two; NEM is making OOR their charity for the next 12 months and they’ll be running event throughout the year to raise funds.”
Cr Baker said copies of the letter to show community support for the hospital campaign can be signed at the council chambers, the library and other places around town.
“We need everybody to sign, literally everybody, because our hospital is so old.”
Cr Baker said everyone who signed former MP Richard Torbay’s petition needs to sign again.
“We have to do it all again. We have to keep at it until we get what we need, and that’s the bottom line.”
