AN emergency meeting held by the Tingha Tigers Rugby League Club at the Tingha Sport and Recreation club on Sunday was attended by about 20 people, but they were enough to encourage the club executive to try to press ahead and field an A grade side this season.

President Ivan Coleman’s prediction, made at the end of last week, that the club would probably fold left a bleak outlook for the Tigers.
Following Sunday’s meeting the club announced they had appointed Nathan Blacklock as their A grade coach and Clint Connors as assistant coach, and that their junior teams and League Tag sides will take to the field.
The team’s next step is a registration day to be held from 11am-2pm on Sunday, February 8, at the Tingha Sport and Rec Club.
The day will be an important one for the club because it will determine if they are also able to field a reserve grade side, and at the moment that seems unlikely.
Coleman said the sign on day will give them some idea of what sort of numbers they will have.
“It would be good to have a reserve grade side. From the talk on Sunday it seems we’ll have an A grade side, but I don’t know how strong it will be,” Coleman said.
“We’ll see what pulling power Nathan Blacklock’s got, the last time he coached us, we actually won the competition.”
Coleman said at the moment it was still a ‘wait and see’ situation for the Tingha Tigers.
