Legacy Office coordinator Lyn Kitawal said the fire brigade was the first to arrive at the Legacy unit complex on the corner of Evans and Lawrence Street, at about 8pm.
They cleared guttering and temporarily plugged the leak in the first unit, before an SES crew arrived and attended to the second residence.
Ms Kitawal said the second unit was recently refurbished and painting was still underway on a number of doors.
“The weather seal had been removed,” she said.
Crews applied tarpaulins to stop leaking and Ms Kitawal said, aside from some minor damage to internal carpets, the units and residents were spared any major damage.
Crews also responded to the home of a local legacy widow, later in the night, who had reported leaking around a heater. Ms Kitawal said she, and Legacy, were very grateful for the response.
NSW Fire and Rescue station commander Mark Savage said the brigade was called out five times on Tuesday during the rough weather.
“We had calls to flooding houses and helped unblock a few drains in the main street and helped with some sand bagging,” Commander Savage said.
“We backed up the SES, who don’t get called out very often because we don’t get flooded very often.”
