President of Inverell Junior Rugby Union Rowan O’Brien said the first sign on day will be at Inverell Rugby Park from 4.30pm - 6pm on Friday, the second will be held between 4.30pm - 6pm on Friday, March 6.
“Inverell Junior Rugby prides itself on an ‘all inclusive’ ethos with sportsmanship and participation the main aims, rather than getting the biggest and strongest individuals on the paddock,” Mr O’Brien said.
He said junior rugby involved sprinting, tackling, pushing and kicking the ball, which returned many physical health benefits to the players including; cardiovascular fitness and endurance, strength in upper and lower body, agility, speed, ball-handling and ball kicking co-ordination.
Mr O’Brien said junior rugby also held important social benefits including team skills, social interaction, communication skills and self-discipline.
“Training will commence every Thursday from March 12. Fees for this year will be $95 for your first child (U8s to U14s), $75 for your second child (U8s to U14s) and $45.00 for U6s,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Each child will receive a registration pack, as well as a guarantee of having a great time for all the family throughout the season.
“This year, thanks to Inverell Junior Rugby Union winning an Australian-wide Philmac ‘Sponsor My Club’ competition, we will have some new training equipment to improve on defensive skills.”
