Knuckles Sandwich Bar, which has just opened at 88 McEvoy Street, Alexandria, is the creation of chefs Diana Thomson [ex The Bathers' Pavilion] and Damien Naughton [ex Bathers' and Bistro Moncur], along with seasoned restaurateur and cafe operator Angus Crane.
The venue is sandwich-fill heaven, its kitchen duo glazing their own ham, lightly poaching chicken and giving vegetarians something to cheer about with a combination of roast carrot, fetta and date chutney.
Man does not live on bread alone, so they're knocking out house made sausage rolls.
"Our pastry and sweets are really old-school, vanilla slice and chocolate eclairs," Thomson says.
They are also on the born-again soft-serve trend. Knuckles' version made from jersey milk from Warrnambool, with a variety of toppings including Belgium chocolate and caramel popcorn.
The fitout and its candy-striped awning are a cute addition for this busy arterial. So don't drag your knuckles Alexandria-ites, check it out.
