Such a positive, happy atmosphere, such delicious food from so many different countries!
It is a striking example of how people can celebrate difference and share their culture in such a friendly manner. It was a delight to be part of it and it showed how society is enriched by people coming from so many countries and finding a welcome and a home here.
Inverell can be proud that it has always be ready to welcome migrants and refugees and now we see what a huge contribution has been made to Australian life.
That Opera in the Paddock had to be cancelled was a great disappointment to many but especially to Peta and Bill Blyth who had put so much time and effort into giving the Inverell community the chance to experience such wonderful music and singing.
It must take great courage to organise such a significant event and if sometimes it doesn’t work out as planned, we can just salute the effort put in and show gratitude to all involved.
A disappointment, yes, but on a world scale of negative events, I imagine we’re all resilient enough to scrape the mud off our shoes, dry our clothes and just say a big thank you to the organisers, helpers, musicians and singers - at least you tried.
